Installing a Ghost Windows 2000 Operating Image

1)  Insert a bootable floppy which contains the Ghost software and restart the computer.

2)  In the "About Symantic Ghost" window, click "OK".

3)  In the "Symantic Ghost 7.5" window, select "Local", "Partition", and "From Image".

4)  In the "Look in:" field, select the drive that has the image on it (probably "C:"), and double-click on "UPDATE".

5)  Use the arrow keys to go to the image you wish to install (i.e. "W2KAD54U.GHO", where "54" is the name of your rushtest machine), and click "Open" (note: this is very sensitive!).

6)  In the "Select Source Partition" select your image file, (usually the first one, labled "NTFS" or "NTFS extd" drive) and click OK.

7)  In the "Select Local Destination Drive" (select first one) then click OK.

8)  In the "Select Destination Partition" (select first one = NTFS), and click OK.

9)  In the "Question" popup querying you to proceed click "Yes" and wait a while.  If your image spans multiple files, you will be queried for the next segment. Browse to it, select it, and proceed.

10)  After installing ghost image, FIRST REMOVE THE GHOST SOFTWARE FLOPPY, and in the "Clone Complete" popup, select "Reset Computer" to boot your image.

1)  Insert a bootable floppy which contains the Ghost software and restart the computer.

2)  In the "About Symantic Ghost" window, click "OK".

3)  In the "Symantic Ghost 7.5" window, select "Local", "Partition", and "To Image".

4)  In the "Select local source drive by clicking on the drive number", select Drive 1 and click "OK".

6) In the "File Name To Copy Image To" panel, select the "C: Ghost" drive, in the "File Name" field, enter an appropriate name (i.e. "W2KADC"), then click "Save".

7) In the "Compress Image" panel, select "High".

8) In the "Proceed with partition dump" panel, click "Yes". If your image spans multiple files, you will be queried for the next segment. You should of course place the next segment in the same folder, name it something "incremental", and save it.

Once the image is created you can do a normal reboot of the machine (remove the floppy first!).

Note that if your image is more than 2gig, you will be queried to insert next media, etc. Keep pressing "OK" or whatever default you are presented.
